Image 2: GERMINATION
The conditions of Gaia’s birth are captured through setting the subject within a ‘Primordial Soup’. We see Gaia’s life begins in a warm pond, which provides the environment for her evolution from gases and ether into a shape of a human being-Gaia. All around her, we see the mists of Aither (Ether), the personification of the “upper sky”, space and heaven (embodying the pure upper air that the gods breathe, as opposed to the normal air breathed by mortals).
Image 3: BIRTH
Here we witness Gaia’s birth. The spark of her life has already been created in the primordial soup of the previous photograph in the series and now in this image, her birth is actualized through the Sacred Feminine, where she is depicted in a pose, giving birth and at the same time in the very action of her giving birth, Gaia is being born out of “Chaos”.
Image 4: UNION
Gaia has given birth resulting in the creation of the heavenly gods through her union with Ouranos (Uranus)–the Sky, and the sea-gods from her union with Pontos–the Sea, and through being impregnated by the blood of the castrated Ouranos, Gaia created the Gigantes (a tribe of a hundred god-giants). We see Gaia, blood stained, covered in sky light, stepping out, veil wet, nourished and completely ready to actively pursue the work ahead

Image 5: METAMORPHOSIS
Gaia is winged, almost dove like. There is a strong reference to a metamorphosing from her cocoon like state in the primordial soup to the butterfly allusion in this image. Looking like an angelic deity, she reflects the flight of the soul to heaven, whereupon from her position high up on Mt Olympus, she sets the purifying conditions for the creation of the Earth.
Gennisi
BIRTH explicitly references Gaia’s origin, when she begun and started to exist. This phase alludes to the traditional Greek name for the first book of the Bible-Genesis, meaning “origin”, and foreshadows the broader narrative that explains how the earth and humanity were created.
